Ectropion
Description
Ectropion, also known as "out-turned eyelid," "sagging eyelid," or "drooping eyelid," is a condition where the edge of the eyelid—most often the lower lid—turns outward, exposing the sensitive inner surface of the eye. This outward turning makes it difficult for eyelids to protect and lubricate the eye, leading to symptoms such as excessive tearing, persistent dryness, eye irritation, redness, and a gritty or burning sensation. Ectropion can result from aging, facial nerve weakness (like Bell’s palsy), prior eye surgeries, injuries, or congenital issues present from birth. Without proper treatment, this condition may lead to more serious problems like eye infections or vision loss. South Korea is a sought-after destination for ectropion correction surgery, offering advanced techniques such as canthoplasty, eyelid retraction repair, blepharoplasty, and fat grafting performed by experienced surgeons to restore both eyelid function and a refreshed appearance.
