Abdominal Liposuction

Abdominal liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to remove excess fat deposits from the abdominal area, enhancing body contour and improving overall appearance. The procedure typically begins with the administration of anesthesia, which can be local, regional, or general, depending on the extent of the fat removal and the patient’s preference. Once the patient is appropriately anesthetized, the surgeon makes small incisions in inconspicuous locations around the abdomen. Through these small incisions, a tumescent solution, which is a mixture of saline, epinephrine, and lidocaine, is injected into the fatty tissue. This solution helps to minimize blood loss, reduce pain, and make the fat easier to remove.

Next, the surgeon inserts a thin, hollow tube called a cannula through the incisions. The cannula is moved back and forth in a controlled manner to loosen the fat cells, which are then suctioned out using a surgical vacuum or syringe attached to the tube. The quantity of fat removed depends on the patient’s individual goals and the surgeon’s assessment. After the desired amount of fat has been removed, the surgeon carefully closes the incisions, typically with sutures or surgical adhesive, and applies a compression garment to the treated area to support the new contours and minimize swelling. The patient is then moved to a recovery area where they are monitored until the anesthesia wears off. Post-operative instructions usually include guidelines for care, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments to ensure proper healing and optimal results.
