Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to correct or improve the results of a previous nose surgery. The procedure generally begins with a comprehensive evaluation during which the surgeon assesses the nasal structure, skin quality, and overall facial aesthetics. This may include a review of the patient's medical history, previous surgical outcomes, and any issues such as breathing difficulties or aesthetic concerns. Preoperative planning is crucial, often involving digital imaging and detailed discussions to align the surgical goals with the patient's expectations.

The surgery itself can vary significantly in complexity depending on the issues being addressed. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort and compliance. The surgeon may use either a closed technique, where incisions are made within the nostrils, or an open technique, which involves an incision across the columella (the tissue between the nostrils) to provide better visibility of the nasal structures. Cartilage grafts, often taken from the septum, ear, or ribs, may be used to reconstruct or support the nasal framework. Rhinoplasty may also involve refining the nasal tip, altering the nasal bridge, correcting asymmetry, or improving functional aspects such as breathing. The surgery is followed by a recovery period, where careful postoperative care is necessary to ensure optimal healing and the desired outcome.
