Peeling

Description

Skin peeling, also known as chemical peel or derma-peeling, is a cosmetic treatment used to improve and smooth the texture of the skin. This procedure typically involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin, which causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The purpose of skin peeling is to remove dead skin cells, revealing a new layer of skin underneath that appears healthier and more youthful. The level of intensiveness of the peel can vary and can be tailored to individual needs, with superficial, medium, and deep peels available. The procedure starts by cleansing the skin thoroughly. Next, a specific chemical solution is applied to the skin which makes it "blister" and eventually peel off. The type of chemical used will determine the depth of the peel. During the procedure, patients may experience a burning sensation that lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation. A cool compress may be provided to help alleviate this discomfort. Once the chemical peel is removed, the treated area might turn pink or red, and a crust or scab may form on the skin. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin, resulting in a rejuvenated appearance.

Ailments treated by this procedure: Keratosis Pilaris, T-zone Blackheads, Rough Skin Texture, and Chicken Skin Arms
